Toonami Airs New Sustaining Promo for My Hero Academia

Last Updated on by Joshua Mathieu (Jmb a.k.a. The Boss)

Tonight (May 9, 2020) at 8:30pm EST, just before the 2nd episode of the DBZ Kai hour on Adult Swim, Toonami premiered a new sustaining promo for My Hero Academia. For those unfamiliar with the term, a sustaining promo is a general promo to advertise a show as a whole, unlike topical/episodic promos which focus on a particular episode and its plot.

This comes as it was just recently announced that Episode 86 would be delayed until May 16, 2020 due to Funimation’s production delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving Toonami to have to re-air Episode 85 from last week (May 2, 2020). The delays have also caused Toonami stop airing regular episodic/topical promos in the last week, with the last one of these to air being for Episode 84, which aired on April 25, 2020.

Toonami has previously aired sustaining promos for both Sword Art Online, whose April 20, 2019 promo was the latest for that title, and Dragon Ball Super’s most recent, airing on March 2, 2019. Toonami has also produced three other sustaining promos for Dragon Ball Super as well.
