“I don’t think I need protecting right now [Takagi], but the civilians above do. Don’t be dense, I’m not taking any more of a risk than you are. I don’t think the flames care what gender I am. You might have forced Mom off the front lines, but I’m different. Shut up and watch. I have the power to save lives. […] Listen to me. This is what I do. This is what the 8th does.”

–          Maki Oze, Fire Force (Season 2, Ep. 22)

The Toonami Trending Rundown for April 24-25, 2021. Maki is back on the squad as for this week’s social media buzz, #Toonami trended in the United States alongside Food Wars, The Promised Neverland, and Fire Force. #Toonami also trended on Tumblr. The full list, including statistics and tweet counts from the Twitter app, can be seen below.

This week’s feature was a video game review of Cyber-Shadow, a side-scrolling platformer by Mechanical Head Studios. It received a 8.0 out of 10 score.

Demon Slayer has been a smash hit in the box office. According to Box Office Mojo, Demon Slayer the Movie: Mugen Train ranked as the #1 movie on its opening day, grossing an estimated $9.5 million in 1,598 theaters. This is quite impressive considering that Mugen Train grossed over $470k more the #2 film, Mortal Combat, despite that the latter film is being featured in twice as many theaters. Demon Slayer ended its opening weekend at #2 with $21,144,800 in 1,600 theaters, just $2 million short of beating Mortal Combat. As of this writing, Mugen Train has a total gross of $27,705,843. Worldwide, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train has grossed over $442.81 million USD, surpassing Spirited Away as the highest grossing anime film of all time.

For those who still want to check out the film in theaters, Funimation and Aniplex have added additional screenings at least through the following week. Click here for showtimes and tickets, and be sure to stay safe if you plan on going.

Finally, Dr. Stone fans and the Toonami Faithful are getting excited once again, as Funimation and Toonami announced this week that Dr. Stone will be returning to the better cartoon show for its highly anticipated second season, titled Stone Wars. Dr. Stone: Stone Wars will be airing at the 1:00 a.m. Eastern/Pacific slot upon its arrival, replacing Fire Force on the lineup, as the latter show will be airing its season 2 finale the week prior. To make way, Food Wars! and The Promised Neverland will both be shifting down the lineup by 30 minutes.

Tune in tonight for the mid-season finale of Attack on Titan, among other moments.
