Toonami Says Bon Voyage to One Piece on March 18th [UPDATED]

Last Updated on by Joshua Mathieu (Jmb a.k.a. The Boss)

It was unfortunately announced on Toonami Pre-Flight yesterday that Toonami will be saying farewell to One Piece on March 18th. It was also announced that Tokyo Ghoul will be joining Toonami on March 25th. It was not confirmed if Tokyo Ghoul will be taking One Piece’s time slot. Toonami will be sending One Piece out in style and with a bang, check out the farewell tribute music video above that will be airing on Toonami tonight.

Jason DeMarco has stated that he is bummed about losing One Piece. He stated on twitter that he hates to lose one of the greatest shonen ever made but the decision had to be made. This decision was made because of ratings, cost, and many other factors he couldn’t say because of business and legal reasons. When asked if there was a chance One Piece could ever come back to the block or if it was gone for good Jason said “You never know”. Jason also said One Piece’s leaving the block had nothing to do with them acquiring Tokyo Ghoul.

Some people are disappointed (including myself) and some are overly excited about One Piece leaving the block, please act civil about it there is no reason to be rude, obnoxious, and disrespectful about it toward other people. Also please don’t curse Jason or the rest of the Toonami crew out I understand people are upset but acting like that is certainly not going to help bring it back. Jason said that they did not want to get rid One Piece but unfortunately they had to but maybe one day it might return never say never. And to the people who are happy that it is leaving I get you don’t like the show you have the right to your opinion and I respect your opinion. However you don’t have the right to go attack other people rubbing it in their faces. To the people who are upset about One Piece leaving the same goes for you as well if someone states on their twitter that they are happy about it that doesn’t give you the right to attack them either. Everyone has a right to their opinion whether you agree or disagree with it and this isn’t the end of the world.

One Piece is leaving Toonami but the show itself won’t be ending you can still watch it on Funimation or purchase the Blu-ray/DVD sets.
