Toonami schedules Yashahime and Made in Abyss season finales, DC Movies for February 2023

February 2023’s Toonami lineup will feature the final episodes of Yashahime: The Second Act and Made in Abyss, as well as the DC movies Injustice and Justice League vs The Fatal Five.

February 2023 will be a month of transition for the Toonami lineup, as during the month, the block will be showcasing the final episodes of Yashahime: The Second Act and Made in Abyss season 2 on February 4th and 11th respectively. What will replace those shows upon their respective completions is not yet clear. But for the nights of February 18 and 25, Toonami will be showcasing a pair of DC Comics movies, including the 2021 film Injustice and the 2019 film Justice League vs The Fatal Five.

This Saturday, February 4, following the regularly scheduled airings of My Hero Academia and Made in Abyss at the midnight hour, Toonami will showcase the final two episodes (Ep. 23-24) of Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon: The Second Act from 1:00-2:00 a.m. EST. To make way for this doubleheader finale, One Piece will take the night off. The block will be topped off with regular scheduled airings of Naruto Shippuden and Primal from 2:00-3:00 a.m. EST.

The following Saturday, February 11 will be Made in Abyss’ final night, as the block will showcase the final two episodes (Ep. 11-12) of Season 2. As the season finale will air in the spot Yashahime vacated upon its completion the week before, the rest of the lineup, including the regularly scheduled premiere episodes of My Hero Academia, One Piece, and Naruto Shippuden, will air at their regularly scheduled times.

It is not known whether Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon will be continued for a third season or not. Kadokawa however, has green-lighted a continuation of Made in Abyss. At this time, there are insufficient chapters of the manga to fully adapt a third season, so it could be several years until a sequel becomes realized.

For the latter two weeks of February, My Hero Academia will continue to air at its regularly scheduled time at midnight, but the rest of the lineup will take the two weeks off for some DC movies.

On February 18, Toonami will air Injustice, a 2021 film based on the 2013 video game Injustice: Gods Among Us by NetherRealm Studios. Directed by Matt Peters and written Ernie Altbacker, the film stars Justin Hartley as Superman and Anson Mount as Batman.

IMDB describes the film as follows:

On an alternate Earth, the Joker tricks Superman into killing Lois Lane, which causes a rampage in the hero. Superman decides to take control of Earth; Batman and his allies will have to attempt to stop him.

Finally on February 25, following an airing of Ballmastrz Rubicon at 12:30, Toonami will air Justice League vs The Fatal Five at 1:00 a.m. Directed by Sam Liu, the film is a sequel to the TV series Justice League Unlimited, which premiered on Cartoon Network from 2004-2006.

The film stars Elyes Gabel as Star Boy, Diane Guerrero as Green Lantern, George Newbern as Superman, and Kevin Conroy as Batman. The film is notable for being Conroy’s final film role before his death on November 10, 2022.
