Toonami Trending Rundown for May 29-30 and June 5-6, 2021

Last Updated on by Daniel Limjoco

“The end of the year is years almost upon us. Everyone’s been working to develop their quirks and perfect their ultimate moves. Young Midoriya too has become better at using One for All. He learned Shoot Style and Air Force. Most got provisional licenses. A few even fought against the Shie Hassaikai and bounced back. In the midst of all these events and troubles, they pushed on earnestly reaching toward their goals. And now they have the chance to compare themselves to other students chasing the same dream. They’ll gain a better understanding where they are. In a way this is a rehearsal for the rest of their lives”

–          All Might, My Hero Academia (Ep. 93)

This Toonami Trending Rundown is a double-feature for the nights of May 29-30, 2021 and June 5-6, 2021.

On Twitter, for the night of May 29-30, #Toonami would trend in the United States alongside My Hero Academia, Food Wars (including a character trend for Erina), and The Promised Neverland. For the night of June 5-6, Toonami would trend in the U.S. alongside My Hero Academia, Dr. Stone, Food Wars, and The Promised Neverland. On Tumblr, #Toonami would also trend during both nights. The full list, including statistics and tweet counts from the Twitter app, can be seen below.

This week’s feature was an inspirational speech from Toonami, encouraging viewers to help each other out during these rough times. You can check it out below.

My Hero Academia will be airing its 100th episode in Japan this Saturday, June 12. To commemorate the occasion, Studio Bones has released this key visual. For the record, Toonami will be airing Episode 94 this Saturday, so we have six episodes to go before reaching that point.

Studio Bones also released a new key visual for the upcoming My Hero Academia film: World Heroes Mission, scheduled to premiere in Japanese theaters this August 6. The visual features the students of UA and the top pro heroes in Japan, joined by an original character made for the movie, Rody Soul, in the back. The visual’s tagline reads: “Save the world. Go beyond impossible.”

Funimation has announced that they will be producing and releasing the English Dub for MegaloBox 2: Nomad. Despite that Funimation has taken over dubbing duties for Bang Zoom! Entertainment, much of the cast from season 1 will return to reprise their roles. Unfortunately, unlike the first season, MegaloBox 2 will not be making its dub premiere on Toonami. At the moment it is yet to be announced if MegaloBox will also be returning to the lineup anytime soon.

In more positive news for Toonami viewers, one show we have been waiting for months to make its television debut is finally coming to fruition. Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon will be joining Toonami on June 26 at 1:00 a.m, a week after The Promised Neverland completes its run.

A few interesting news bits regarding the development of several Toonami original series. According to a PR release by Corus Entertainment, Blade Runner: Black Lotus will be airing on Adult Swim Canada this fall. As Blade Runner‘s U.S. premiere date is still TBA, we have no word on if the Canadian broadcast will be a concurrent or a delayed one.

Meanwhile, the Uzumaki twitter account is hinting that “We will have something to share with you next week.” Stay tuned and watch this space for details.
